A familiar size is a useful starting point, but it is not a promise that every shoe will fit the same way. A narrow toe, a shallow slip-on opening and a lined boot all change how a pair feels. Use the specific product page as your reference.
Set up a simple measurement
Gather a sheet of paper, a pencil and a ruler. Measure toward the end of the day, wearing the type of socks you plan to use with the shoes. Put the paper on a firm, level surface against a wall. Stand with your heel lightly against the wall and your weight resting normally on your foot.
- Mark the longest toe while holding the pencil upright. If possible, ask someone to make the mark so you can stay standing naturally.
- Measure the straight distance from the heel edge to that mark. Record the result in inches and centimeters; 1 in equals 2.54 cm.
- Repeat for the other foot. Use the longer measurement when comparing against a style’s foot-length chart.
Read the labels carefully
Our selection contains shoes labeled with numbered sizes. Those labels are displayed as marked sizes unless a source size chart identifies the sizing system. Do not read a label such as 42 as a U.S. size. Where a product-specific U.S. conversion is available, it is included alongside the original label.
A foot-length chart measures the foot, not the outside of the sole or the shipping box. Compare like with like. Do not add an arbitrary amount to a chart’s recommended foot length; follow the chart for that pair.
Consider width, socks and closures
Laces offer adjustment across the instep. A slip-on has less adjustment, so pay attention to the opening and your instep. Thicker socks take up more space inside a boot. We do not assign a width rating unless it is documented. If width is a concern, send your measurements and the product name to [email protected] before ordering.
When a chart is not supplied
Some pages have original size labels without a reliable foot-length conversion. We leave those labels intact instead of inventing a U.S. mapping. Ask us for help with that specific style. A generic conversion table from a different brand can produce the wrong choice.
Check at home
Try both shoes indoors on a clean surface. Walk gently, check the toe room and notice whether the heel stays seated. Save the original packaging until you have made your decision. Our Refund Policy explains the 30-day return window and return condition requirements.
